Gas Station
Olds AB

I’ve always been mildly fascinated with this abandoned gas station outside of Olds on the QE2 (Queen Elizabeth II Highway) between Calgary and Edmonton. There is something about abandoned buildings in general that catch my attention. I think it may be the story behind them. Who use to work here, what was their story, when did it close? Not to mention each of these pieces are like time capsules. They seem to be stuck in time. The fonts, the style, the items.

The exit ramp to this gas station has long since crumbled but by maneuvering some bad roads and navigating around some pot holes you can access it. A little gem on the highway that will one day be torn down.

The gas pumps, tanks and the kiosk have been removed here a few weeks ago
The restaurant hasn’t been open for over 20 years
They had good food there too

I want to buy this place and restore the gas station and add a dinner to it.

…And as of April 2013 the fuel pumps STILL remain powered on…wasn’t able to determine if the electrical outlets functioned though.

What’s really strange is that as of April 2012 there was still electricity being fed to the location.

    Awesome!
It’s only been closed for a few years, but it looked abandoned even when it was open!
